In S.E. Hinton’s 1967 novel The Outsiders the main theme is to “stay gold,” right? Well, in the 1983 The Outsiders film directed by Francis Ford Coppola the theme seems to lean more towards “life is precious” as the theme. Already there are some major, and minor differences from the theme to character dialogue. Only a number of actions in the movie are similar to that in the book, but the producer of the movie makes sure that the plot stays the same. The Outsiders film and The Outsiders novel are similar and different in some ways from beginning to end. When compared to the beginning of the 1967 classic novel The Outsiders the film already is changed to show Ponyboy Curtis writing, what we would eventually know was, his theme for english class.
