The Outsiders The Outsiders book and movie have the same story line, but there are details that are different. They are both about the rivalry between the Socs and Greasers, along with what it was like to be in a gang in the 1960s. The narrator is Ponyboy, a 14 year old Greaser, whose lives with two brothers after their parents died. All three brothers are in a gang together, along with 4 other guys. Some things from the book aren’t included in the movie, but overall they are very similar. The actors in the movie look very similar to how the characters are described in the book. Johnny is described as a boy who is tan with black hair and big eyes, who also looks younger than he is. That is exactly how he is showed in the movie. The book says that Two-Bits has rust colored hair, but in the movie he has light brown hair. Some of the characters act differently in the book and movie.
