The Outsiders Quote Analysis

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines loyalty as faithfulness to a private person to whom faithfulness is due. Loyalty is a concept shown throughout The Outsiders up to this point. In a gang, you are expected to be loyal until death. In Chapter 2 it is said that, "When you're a gang, you stick up for the members. If you don't stick up for them, stick together, make like brothers, it isn't a gang anymore” (Hinton 26). This quote from Chapter 2 of The Outsiders states that gang members should be loyal to each other and be willing to do anything for one another. Loyalty to friends is also shown in The Outsiders when Two-Bit is trying to see Johnny in the hospital. The nurses wouldn't let us see Johnny. He was in critical condition. No visitors.
