Introduction This novel written by John Steinbeck, he published the “The Pearl” in the year 1947, he wrote so many novel like “The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, East of Eden, and so much more” he are also an award winning author he won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature. He published almost 50 books, but the one who attract my attention is “The Pearl” because this is the story of the father will do everything for his son, this is the one of the famous novel of John Steinbeck.

Summary Kino and Juana’s have a son named Coyotito, he was poison by a scorpion. Kino must find a money to pay the town doctor to treat his grandson. The doctor denies Kino because he just a poor fisherman, because of that he is so angry. Shortly thereafter, Kino discovers an very large, shiny pearl which he is ready to sell to pay the doctors, so that’s why his son will immediately treated by the doctor. Almost all people in their place calls it "the Pearl of the World," and many people want to steal it because it so very big and it so attractive.In that night Kino was attacked in his own house. This is the behavior almost all father have , even me when it happens, this is what I do, I’ll do anything for my family. I hope all father in this world will do anything for their family even their life must be replacement, Kino was symbolizing all father in this world. The weaknesses of the story is, why the son of Kino die? Cayotito should still so that’s why they lived happily, and the doctor of the story he are the guilty of this story if he treated Cayotito I think it does not happen.
