Canada has a little piece of almost every culture in the world, shown through the large amount of people moving to Canada from every continent in the world. The multitude of cultures is displayed through the plethora of festivals held throughout the country every year, such as the Folk Fest, Edmonton Food Festival, Heritage Festival and the International Film Festival, all bringing in various cultures and traditions from around the world. Canada has all of these festivals due to the large amount of immigration that was even shown in Anita Rau Badami’s essay my Canada, when she and her husband had moved from India to Vancouver. Canada is one if not the most desirable countries to immigrate to, not only for the living conditions but because of the ability to keep your culture and not have to assimilate to a “Canadian” culture. Thanks to immigration Canada has become a great model country to look at for cultural diversity and cultural acceptance that any country can look at and try to model in their own
The Reagan administration believed that the Soviet Union's military strength was the greatest threat to the security of the United States (Fischer, 1997). Reagan refused to believe the Soviets would cut back on certain missiles if the U.S. would refrain from deploying immediate range missiles in Europe. Reagan would increase the number of weapons and revive military programs that had been previously cut. He would also propose to build better weapons that could disable nuclear weapons from space. Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, or Star Wars, violated the 1972 ABM Treaty forbidding defensive systems capable of covering the entire U.S. or Soviet Union.

In the article Introduction To Immigration In The U.S. Today by Noel Merino, the author suggests that “The United States has the largest population of undocumented immigrants in any country” (Merino 1). The problem with immigration is that it takes an extremely long time, which causes the immigrants to run out of patience and just try to illegally immigrate to the United States, mostly by crossing the border. This is a huge problem and if the United States don’t try to fix the issue now, it will turn into a bigger problem and it could be impossible or really difficult to solve it later.
Throughout my entire life, I think the most significant challenge I have faced is immigrating to America. I spent thirteen years of my life in the Philippines and then all of a sudden, I have to leave everything behind to face a different world from what I grew up with. What was difficult about moving to this new country involved everything from learning new values to settling down on a whole new environment. I had to face the reality of a diverse society and deal with the conflicts that comes with the different cultural values that come along with it.

When I was six years old, living in Ethiopia, my dad won an American green card visa lottery among 53,000 people. Although it was exciting news, family members were discouraged because my dad could not afford the visa processing and traveling expense. However, he found a sponsor in Seattle, which allowed him to settle in America. As soon as he found a good house and a stable job, he started the process for me and my family. Multiple errors and obstacles delayed our processing for five years.
To me, the American dream is a wonderful thing to be a part of. It can allow you to have a job to make money and to purchase things with the money you make. This dream lets you take part in elections for the presidents, governors, sheriffs, and any other offices of government. Neil Diamond, in his song “Coming to America”, is welcoming immigrants to America. The immigrants feel that America is a safe place for them to live.
Immigration has been and will continue to happen all around the world. There are so many reasons for people who come from different countries and ethnicities to move from country to country. The reasons why these people immigrate is either they are simply forced to, due to violence and hostility or that they are in search of a better life for them, and or their family etc. Canada being rated number one in quality of life has been a goal for people wanting to immigrate. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA) was established by the Canadian government in the year 2002.
Immigration has always been a major part of American history. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people travel to the United States in search of a better life. Of the 1.49 million immigrants who traveled to the United States in 2016, 150,400 immigrants were from Mexico. There have also been many people from Mexico who have immigrated illegally to America, with 5.6 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. in 2015 and 2016. The large scale of immigration, both legal and illegal, has brought up issues such as national security and the U.S. economy.

My immigrant experience started one year ago, during my senior year in high school with my parents we decided that I will go abroad for college. I looked at lots of universities from different countries China, England, United States and Canada. I had a preference for Canada specially Montreal because of the French language we share, on top of that my uncle was living there. However, I did not apply because my father was against that idea, he did not like the weather and convince me to choose United States. I did not have any idea where to go in the United States, I used to spend hours on my laptop looking for universities.
