How The Pilgrims were different From the Puritans
The Pilgrims and the Puritans were two different groups. There are several ways that they were different. The Pilgrims did not agree with the Church of England religious beliefs. The English government in 1608 persecuted some of the Pilgrims because they did not conform. The Pilgrims left the Church of England in 1620 to form a new colony in Plymouth Massachusetts. The Pilgrims were interested in gaining wealth once they established their new colony. Years later, the Puritan started a colony in Massachusetts. The Puritans believed that everyone should study Christianity. The Pilgrims believe that everyone has a right to choose what religion that they want to and no one should be forced.
The Pilgrims remained separated from the Puritans. The Puritans believed that the church members in their colony should elect their leaders. The Pilgrims started the holiday Thanksgiving it is still celebrated by people today. The Puritans persecuted people …show more content…

The Pilgrims did not care what type of religion that a person believed in they did not think that this determine a person character. Both groups had a different idea of what they thought what religion was. Each group ran their colony in different ways. In the Puritans group the church, control everything in the colony. In the Pilgrim colony, they did not dictate who would be the leader of the group would be.
The Pilgrims were interested in finding land and the Puritans were interested in spreading their religion to everyone. The Pilgrims were happy once they moved away from the church. The Puritans were not worry about their finances as the Pilgrims were they had faith that God would secure their finances. . The Puritans were more involved in the church than the pilgrim were. It was mandatory that every Puritan had to attend church several times a week. The Pilgrims did not attend church as much as the Puritans
