The president plays an important part in the government. He or she functions as the chief of state and the head of the government. The president has several powers, such as the executive power, the power of appointment, the removal power, and the power to pardon. He or she can give orders as needed and ensure they are followed. The president selects ambassadors, judges, and other officials and can remove individuals from “purely executive offices”.
