Analysis Perhaps the most popular argument made against abortion is that the fetus is a person. Based on this assertion, the fetus has a moral right to life. The problem that Thomson identifies is that most of the anti-abortionist and pro-life supporters rely solely on this aspect for their argument and do not rationalize any other matter.
). Pro choice activists feel that states have once again have interfered with a woman’s choice to choose. One error made by abortion supporters is that they believe that states are now creating hostile conditions for woman to have abortions. From this decision, the United States Supreme Court declared that having an abortion was far safer than a natural child birth. In that court room, it was also determined that the word “person” did not include an unborn fetus (Kaplan). The country was completely divided on the Roe v. Wade decisions. Many American’s were angered by the fact that the United States no longer legally considered an unborn fetus to be a person. However, it was a huge relief for many young women across the country.
In “A Defense of Abortion,” Judith Thomson argues with a unique approach regarding the topic of abortion. For the purpose of the argument, Thomas agrees to go against her belief and constructs an argument based on the idea that the fetus is a person at conception. She then formulates her arguments concerning that the right to life is not an absolute right. There are certain situations where abortion is morally permissible. She believes that the fetus’s right to life does not outweigh the right for the woman to control what happens to her own body.

Despite the constant debate and research done on the topic, there is no definitive answer on what is right and what is wrong about abortion. My final paper will be on one of the most controversial issues: abortion, where both sides of the controversy having equal supporters. Not to mention that both sides have the same common goals of making abortions safe and decreasing the number of abortions. Therefore making it very important that the term is defined in a clear way so readers can fully understand the word and meaning of it. The Abortion Controversy in America Abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth. The issue of abortion is present in many major political debates and in nearly every American election, whether local, state, or national. Therefore, the government must remain involved in this hot topic because it is impossible to ignore. Women who sought abortion prior to legalization either had it really easy or found their experience to be rough. Before abortion was legal, women went through many different channels to get it done, even if that meant doing it themselves. Performing the abortion themselves offered a few complications, such as death of the mother or the operation not being done completely. One of the ways women put themselves in harm’s way was through ingesting Savin which is the oil derived from Junipers. There are countries that legalized the abortion, one of theses are United States of America, Poland, Turkey, Denmark, Sweden, Mexico and also Japan. They legalized abortion in order to save woman life on a risking condition of pregnancy. Its a woman choice if she wants to raise her own child or not. Some countries that legally permittable abortion only to save woman health or to protect their physical health and mental health ,in cases of rape or incest.
Abortion is a very sensitive issue. Many people are constantly debating whether or not abortion should be allowed or not. Some people think abortion is very bad and that it should not be allowed at all. They think abortion is like committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. Others feel that the parents should have the right to choose and it is not murder until the baby is born.
Abortion is a sensitive topic. There are good reasons on both sides of the argument. Discussing abortion can help us understand the pros and cons of abortion and how it can help or hurt our country. Abortion could possibly benefit our country in multiple ways, financial and in terms of safety. Abortion should be legal.
Abortion is much more than a question of how religious you truly are, but rather how much you value morality and life. From a moral standpoint, there is no explanation to why abortion should be legal and supported. Morality is mostly objective and there is a baseline for cultures all around the world, rape is bad, theft is bad, murder is bad, except when it’s an embryo or baby. But to even talk about that we need to know why abortion is horrible. Abortions normally happen during the first trimester which is conception to 13 weeks old.
