During the world wars, a portion of the workforce left the company to fight in the war. The company had to hire new and employees to fill the vacant positions and these new employees had to be trained. There by costing the company time and financially.
Political changes may have direct impact on the company.
Economics
The 09/11 attack and other various terrorist activities has had direct and indirect influences on the company both positively and negatively . A simple example is new jobs in security field are introduced and a quite lot of people are recruited.
British membership of the European Union can also have direct impact on the company. The European Union was known as European Economic Community which was set up in 1958 consisting of 6 member countries. Presently there are 28 countries in the European Union. The Union’s main aim is to establish common market which allows free trade between members’ countries and establish a common external tariff on imports of goods and services from other countries. There are both advantages and disadvantages for the company for being the Britain a member of the European Union.

But since becoming a member prices for such products and services has increased because of the common external tariff for products and services coming from outside the EU. Common market policy most likely reduces market shares. Some products will not be popular or suitable in foreign markets, because the local consumers may be used to local products.
