Is getting in debt for going to college interfering with pursuing life long dreams? Many people have student loan debts, and are struggling to pay them off by working more than one job. People decide to go to college to follow their dream job and having a degree behind them, they get paid more. However, in some cases, students don't know what they're getting themselves into if they can't afford to get into college or universities. They sign up for student loans and eventually get into debt because they don't know how much they’ll owe before.
Many people dream of a life filled with riches, but that dream is hard to obtain without a college degree. It is somewhat ironic how people dream of being a successful student and going to college but the cost of tuition turns that dream into a horrible nightmare. It is not a shock to most people when they that college tuition is expensive, but in the past few years it has increased to an all-time high. Lower and middle class students have now begun to realize that college tuition is holding them away from their dreams. Even though college tuition could provide opportunities for job creation and economic growth, tuition is not affordable for the average American household which in effect, prohibits students from taking opportunities like going to college in the first place.
If the national government adds an amendment providing free education this could lead, to higher taxes, less student debt or possibly more budget cuts. The national government is already reducing funds for education. For example, President Donald Trump wants to cut funding by 13 percent, which is approximately $9 billion dollars. Moreover, another problem is teachers are underpaid; an average elementary teacher receives $45,475 dollars a year. Consequently, teacher’s salaries decrease when they have to provide basic supplies for their students.
For these reasons, college should be free, for it would help so many individuals, communities, and the economy. Lastly, the level of debt that has begun to take claim to the lives of the American people is a huge problem. Among these reasons, the debt each student accumulates is the most important issue to fix for them. The first major issue with the current state of college tuition is that it is just too expensive for a large portion of the american population.
From the time we start our careers as students in school, we are told that in order to gains success in life we must attend college. That after high school, college is no doubt the next step we should be taking. Yet, for most students that are not wealthy this goal is almost unattainable. In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it.
