As to better understand every argument I am going to give, we have to keep in mind that I am a 21 years old girl student from the middle class living and studying in France. My mother is french and my father is an algerian science teacher living in France too. I like sports, music, arts and I am also ideologist and politicaly involved War is over and after experiencing the opression of the nazi regime and the atrocities of war, I am full of expectations and ideas. Thus, which side, which bloc, which ideology would more likely meet my expectations ? Communism is the first option that I want to consider, whether is it because of its apparent simplicity or the fact that my 'basic instincts' tell me that it cannot be anything else but good for me, after all, they were the first to defeat the nazi regime and they lost so many lives in the process. But what if under that idyll lies a much less attractive truth. Free healthcare but bad services ? Free housing but overcrowded and unhealthy ? Isn't the Communist party too important in the everyday life ? What about bribery ? Wouldn't democracy be a better choice ? What is democracy ? What does it have to offer ? It think it can all be summarized by one thing: free choice. Whether we are talking about private property, freedom of religion, free elections, equality in decision making through representative elections. And having been living in France (country of human rights) for all my life, I have to admit that these are precious values (“Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité”), both to me and my parents. Democracy also implies class distinction and wealth disparity but am I willing to give up on my 'free will' as an individual to rely entirely on the Communist party
