My position i take on the debate whether or not electronic voting machines should be used is that they should not be used. I feel they should not be used based on the results of the surveys voters took for example in 2004 a survey was done on how many americans 59 and older feel comfortable with electronic voting only 32% of americans felt comfortable which leaves 68% of americans feeling uncomfortable about electronic voting. I feel that when u go to vote u should feel comfortable voting and not have to fear that when u vote your vote may be hacked by a hacker and changed every american should be able to vote and know there vote wont be changed.

In 2002 almost half of the states thats used electronic voting have switched back to paper ballots. Using EVMs were exspensive for states to purchase and fix. EVMs require software updates and also hardware updates which some states cant afford. For example Ohio spent $115 million dollars on EVM upgrades in 2014 which is not a luxury that every state can afford which results in states having machines that cant be updated and maintained correctly which causes machines to not work as they are designed to. This problem concerned alot of people because a person was able to hack into peoples votes and edit them and choose thier own votes. When a voter goes to vote they want to know their vote wont be changed because as americans it is are right to vote for whom we choose is fit to lead us and strive for what we want and deserve. That incident was serious to alot of americans because each vote is counted and used to decide for example who are next president will be americans want to know there votes were all acknowledged and counted to determine are next leader or mayor
