Health care had been a popular topic during recent years in the United States. After the enactment of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, everyone is required to obtain some kind of health insurance whether through their work place or buy insurance through private insurance company/ the government. Those who fail to have health insurance will receive a fine from the government. At state level, Texas doesn’t have its own health insurance exchange, so if an individual wants to buy insurance, they have to go through the federal exchange. HMO 102 and HMO 107 are very similar to each other in term of coverage, however, due to the higher in the monthly price, Blue Advantage Silver HMO 107 covered 10% more on coinsurance in most of common medical events. Generally, that may seems like the best feature in HMO 107. Nonetheless, if insurance buyers look closely to the health care services, there are some cons to HMO 107. Blue Advantage Silver HMO 107 has higher copay cost when visit a specialist or the extra money you will have to spend on generic and specialty drugs. Another down side of HMO 107 is that the copay for urgent care is almost double the copay cost in HMO 102 plan. Overall, HMO 107 best feature is the emergency room services. With this health plan, you will only have to pay $300 for copay per visit while for HMO 102, it would costs $600 copay plus 30% coinsurance. There is a tremendous difference in cost when it comes to emergency room services that insurance buyers should consider if they have poor health that needs to visit the ER often. I think HMO 107 worse feature is the copay on prescription drugs. Despite this fact, it is still more affordable compared to HMO 107. Another pro about this plan is that urgent care is only $40 in copay/visit. With the growth of urgent care clinics that located near neighborhood areas, people would refer to visit an urgent care center near them before they would go to an emergency room. One of the best features about Blue Advantage Silver HMO 102 is that this health place covers routine eye care for both adults and kids while HMO 107 only covers routine eye care for kids. I think eye care is essential for both the mother and her kid.
