Many of the adults and children put into prostitution were at one point abused horribly. Furthermore, 98 percent of women become prostitutes if abused at a young age. Children were taken from their families and forced to have sex against their will. These traffickers can be charged for sexual assault, kidnapping, and abuse. The population is growing, between 100,000 and 300,000 children are being taken away to work as prostitutes.

Slavery was abolished in 1865, and yet it is among one of the world’s greatest issues. Is there enough being done that sheds a light on human trafficking? Human trafficking, or modern-day slavery, has always been prevalent since hundreds of years ago. Abolishing slavery did not eradicate the issue; it only made people sweep it under the rug. Alessandra Potenza points out that many people are living under modern forms of slavery today.

Katariina Rosenblatt’s recruitment happened similar to other helpless people following a simple stay with her family at a hotel in Miami Beach. This survivor advocate conveys her dark experiences into a positive outlet through a nonprofit organization essential for prosecutors to address a vital issue concerning trafficking responses. Treatment approaches does necessitate, “police and judges to look at the wider context and consider them victims of sex exploitation. [For instance,] South Florida is the third-busiest area for sex trafficking in the United States, the Department of Justice says” (Hauser & Mariano, 2013, para. 2).
In the United States, human trafficking has taken on different forms than what is normally thought of as human trafficking. It can range from a migrant laborer wanting to get a job to be able to support his family to survive who is then forced into manipulative work to a child running away to get away from abuse that is happening at home and the person that is helping the child get away from the abusive situation at home turns out to be exploiting him or her to make a profit (Farrell et al, 2014). According the International Labour Organization has estimated that 20.9 million people are involved in human trafficking in the whole world, with 1.5 million victims are in the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. In 2011, there were 3,969 convictions worldwide, and there were only 151 convictions in the United States.

As a criminal act, trafficking violates the rule of law, threatening national jurisdictions and international law. Further, trafficking in persons redirects the benefits of migration from migrants, their families, community and government or other potential legitimate employers to the traffickers and their associates. Difficult as it is to measure accurately the scope of human trafficking, it is equally difficult to measure its impact. The dynamics of the trade are constantly evolving and a range of national perspectives exist.
Ark of hope for children reports there are an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 victims of human trafficking being sold and traded off every year internationally. With 50% led to believe to be children. In the U.S alone there are an estimated 14,500 to 17,500 people trafficked every year ranging from adults to even infants. Since 2012 there have been about 20.9 victims of trafficking with 1.5 million being here in the U.S. It is such a successful industry making $32 billion in all 50 states.
Human trafficking is one of the largest and most prevalent issues that affects all walks of life both domestically and internationally. Human trafficking is the taking of a person with the intent to exploit them through, sexual exploitation, forced labor, slavery/servitude, or the removal of organs.

We are living in a world where one person has an absolute power over another. The groundless trade of human beings in today’s world shows a deteriorated state of affairs which confirms that the greatest moral challenge facing the globe today is human trafficking. It refers to illegal sale or trade of people for sexual abuse or forced labor through coercion or abducting people. Normally, trafficking is done by threat, compulsion, abduction, fraud, misleading, abuse of power, vulnerability, giving payments or benefits to a person in control of the victim .Trafficking in person is a serious crime and dignified violation of human rights . Most of people nowadays do not know that human slavery still exists; after it was abolished 150 years ago, its proven when there is an auction of young women intended for sexual slavery occurred publicly in Britain highly policed location and another auction even took place in front of a café at Greenwich Airport, Britain (News by BBC UK, 4 June 2006, 14.31 GMT). These crimes have been booming and become a global phenomenon when victims from at least 153 countries were detected in 124 countries worldwide between 2010 and 2012.
