In this day and age we seem to come across one big question where is are next source of power going to come from and for lots of countries out there seem to becoming very dependent on nuclear reactors as a main power source maybe this is because of the high energy output it has or maybe it's because of the high high availability of uranium and plutonium that is needed as the main fuel source for the reactor or it could be a combination of both of these factors. Even though the use of these nuclear reactors as a main source of energy has its benefits, the dangers these nuclear reactors pose are still very great. A core meltdown occurs when the cooling system system fails in a running or recently shut down reactor and the uranium which is generating very large amounts of heat starts to melt the best they can do to stop the meltdown is to stop the fission process to try and gain more time and try to fix the cooling systems or start evacuating everyone and get as far away as possible. Of the 99 serious accidents that have occurred 20 of these have been core meltdowns the first one happened in 1969 and the most recent one occurred in 2011 also on this list only 2 of the accidents have been a categorized as a level 7 the highest level in the scale of nuclear accidents the first one occure on April 26, 1986 and was know as the Chernobyl disaster and the second one happened on March 24, 2011 and was known as the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. Some of these had some large environmental impacts bet a few of these we know next to nothing about it is not a problem we really have a solution to these accidents are not always fatal but when the are they usually end up killing or injuring a large amount of people.
