In today’s society we rely upon several types of fuels to operate various objects within our everyday lives. For instance; the vehicles we drive, operation of mechanical equipment, industrial machinery, and household utensils. There are approximately eight different types of fuels for which we use today; ethanol, natural gas, electricity, hydrogen, propane, biodiesel, methanol, and P-Series fuel. P-Series fuels are categorized in the family of renewable, non-petroleum, liquid fuels, which can be substituted for gasoline. It is a mixture of ethanol, methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF), and butane. P-Series fuel contains a minimum of sixty percent non-petroleum energy content factory-made exclusively from biomass feedstocks and would yield substantial …show more content…

Considering the pros and cons when weighing one’s options with regards to P-Series fuel; one, is that clean burning fuel reduces ozone-forming emissions, Two; it’s renewable; whereas, it’s plant based, so whatever is used can always be replanted. Three, the support of local agriculture; it’s produced domestically, which in turn assists local farmers. Yet, with every positive, there is always that evil negative. First to consider, corrosion, which tends to deteriorate non-synthetic and rubber fuel system parts. Second, is the land and labor viability, which large amounts of farmland and labor are required to grow the crops. Lastly, lower energy continent that the current gasoline for which we use. Gasoline contains about 114,000 BTUs per gallon versus ethanol 's 76,000 BTUs per gallon. This equates into reduced fuel mileage depending upon the fuel mixture percentage, (Gable, …show more content…

In conclusion, as a whole we can see how important and easily P-Series fuel can be introduced within today’s society. The transitioning of such fuels is also, simplistic in form and can be easily added to the gasoline already available in the modern vehicles for which we drive today. Furthermore, it is extremely integral to reduce ozone emissions and attempt to repair what we have unseemly destroyed amongst the previous years. Realizing the harm which we are causing to the ozone and biosphere may open society’s eyes to the real problem and how using oil affects these areas. P-Series fuel is the new wave of moving forward within fuel production and usage. After some more research and testing it is almost undoubtedly so that P-Series can be beneficial to us
