Abstract
Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular due to environmental problems with diesel and petrol vehicles, electric vehicles seem to be the future of the automotive industry. This report will focus on electric cars. It will outline the advantages and disadvantages of electric powered vehicles in comparison to the traditional internal combustion engine. It will also give an insight into the technology that is used in them.

Introduction
There was a demand for an alternative fuel source during the 1960s and 70s due to the emissions caused by internal combustion engines. The idea behind this report is to show how electric vehicles are produced and to explain its advantages and disadvantages in comparison to the traditional internal combustion engine. In theory the electric car was developed to benefit the environment and ultimately humanity. Carcinogens produced in the internal combustion engine become non-existent with the electric engine. In the present day cars such as the Nissan Leaf are becoming more popular because of their low emissions.
