Recently the media brought forth a story about Brittany Maynard who was 29 who ended her life on November1st after being diagnosed last spring with stage-4 glioblastoma. She moved to Oregon, which was one of the states that have Death with Dignity law. Some say that she should have fighting her glioblastoma. Yes, she planned out her month to experience new endeavors with her family but she could have stayed alive longer to experience more out of live. Now that she ended her life many more states will want to legalize Death with Dignity Laws (Vasquez,Samantha). Patients seek relief from symptoms as unremitting severe pain, difficulty breathing as like choking and suffocation, nausea and vomiting. A terminally ill patient has the worry and concern about the well-being of their families who are often taking care of the dying loved one and paying the expensive bills for their treatments (The Positive Aspects of Physician Assisted Suicide). There are some people that are not for Physician Assisted Suicide because it is against some religion; it demeans the value of human life and they think that doctors are given too much power and it could be wrong and unethical (should an incurably-ill patient be able to commit physician assisted suicide?). There are over 10,319 cases were reported in Netherlands and in Belgium there was 1,917, gender and age distributions are similar in both countries.
