Introduction
Prenatal testing is to identify chromosomal anomalies, genetic conditions and structural abnormalities in the fetus. Prenatal testing provides informative information about your baby's health before he or she is born. All women are suggested to be tested and screened for gestational diabetes, Down syndrome, and HIV. The development of prenatal testing has resulted in advantages and limitations which has created controversy within our society.

There are two main types of prenatal genetic testing which are conducted for parents to be these include, screening testing and diagnostic testing. Screening testing also known as non-invasive testing consists of identifying if your fetus has aneuploidy and other disorders by having blood tests and ultrasounds. Both types of screening indicates no other option but to choose between continuing or aborting the pregnancy and can only be socially justified and reassured that it aims to provide meaningful and respectful options for reproductive choice to pregnant women and their partners. This form of technology has caused a debate in regards to parent's who do want to terminate their pregnancy, with the public divided on whether this is a wrong or right thing to do. In the United States of America in numerous states due to public backlash, states have attempted to limit and restrict prenatal testing for Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida and other genetic abnormalities through legislations.
