The experiences patients go through are one like no other. They come to, “...express a spiritual realm and a loving presence that some refer to as God…” (Lichfield). During this period they might also come, “into contact with relatives that have been deceased, and at the same time, recalling previous events that occured in one's life” (Lichfield). These experiences have been documented to change people's lives as some go on to new professions and ending marriages as a result of their subconscious experience.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the newsletter The Ghosts We Think We See by Sharon Begley. The article is a 2007 news article published by Newsweek. The author of the article delves into the issue of superstitious phenomena, and particularly, whether such events exists and why. To support the claim that such events exist, the author notes that only 7% of Americans do not believe in telepathy (Begley, 2007).
In both the film, “X-men,” and the novel, “The Chrysalids” certain characters display the ability to use telepathy to read minds or communicate with others. For instance, in The X Men, Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, has the supernatural ability to read minds, which allows him to not only control people minds but he can also use a device called Cerebro that amplifies his powers. Psychological research depends on observations, experimentation, and evidence, hence the need for critical methodological designs (Shipman, 2014).
