Education is one of the most important tools of modern society. It has been said that teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. Public education is a costly investment, but an important one. Unfortunately, Oklahoma currently ranks near the bottom when it comes to public education. The state also has a massive budget problem which ties state legislature’s hands in their options to fixing the issue. This leaves students in the public education system in a dangerous position as their curriculum is being compromised. The importance of an unbiased education cannot be stressed enough. The thinkers of tomorrow are being created in classrooms. To skew their understanding of a topic by offering information as completely true, whether by necessity or option, is to damage their ability to see issues from an unbiased point of view. The lens by which students learn is invaluable-it is the very reason some feel the need to shell out thousands of dollars to have their students taught from certain perspectives in private schools. Being honest, the OERB knows why they spend this money. No one spends large dollars without gaining a return. The OERB knows that young children are impressionable. They know that their workforce is aging and it is necessary to replenish.
