The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines controversy as, ¨ a discussion marked especially by the expression of opposing views¨ (¨Controversy¨). Controversies affect many people in our economy.
Minimum wage could or could not affect employees. To begin, raising the minimum wage could affect many employees because they are decreasing their benefits and increasing tax payments which will cost the employees more (“Minimum Wage''.)For example,a lot of jobs could start losing employees because of them raising the minimum wage.People are going to want to stop working cause they aren't going to benefit from it.Jobs are going to start going out of business because they won't have enough employees.Second, Most minimum-wage employees work for small firms in competitive markets. These companies have small profit margins. They can only pay higher wages if they raise prices. Customers, not business owners, pay that cost” (“Minimum Wage''.)Another example is it will be hard as a small business to create a bigger business.Making someone raise the cost is going to decrease the amount of customers someone is getting.No one is going to want to start a new business if they are having to pay more because of it.Finally, Raising the minimum wage also creates more jobs for more skilled workers, disadvantaged teenagers, …show more content…
