Spanking has been used for years to show kids from right and wrong. Years ago studies have occurred to see the true harms and effects of what spanking really does to a child. With three articles two for spanking written by Matt Walsh and Robert Larzelere, and one article is against spanking written by Murry Straus. All of these articles have similarities and differences. Similarities and differences could show within the authors, audience, context and the fashion within their writings. The first article is a blog by Matt Walsh, who claims to be “a blogger, writer, speaker, and professional sayer of truth.” He writes about all different kinds of topics such as politics, abortion, Christians and many more, but this one is posted on Absolute Truths called “Spanking is a disciplinary measure, not child abuse. Get a grip, people.” The second and third articles are both called “Should There Be a Law Banning Spanking of Children?” the article’s database is Military & Government Collection this piece has two different sides by two different writers. The first writer that is pro spanking is Robert Larzelere, who holds a PHD in human development and family science at Oklahoma State University. He has done his research to see what punishments work better and has not found much. Larzelere is also one that only thinks spanking is okay only if used the right way so it is not abuse. Spanking is used to help teach the child from right and wrong, so over the years, it should have to be used less and less. Spanking should also not be used all of the time, punishment should have a range, for instance, if the child gets in big trouble then the parent could use physical punishment, but if the child did something less severe maybe sit them in the corner or take away a
