The Clean Air Act is a United States federal law was designed to control air pollution throughout the entire United States. It is one of the United States' first and most influential modern environmental laws, and one of the most comprehensive air quality laws in the worlds. The Clean Air Act was major legislation passed to control air pollution in the United States. The Act was passed in 1963, but important and major amendments were added to the original Act in 1970 and 1990. The Clean Air Act requirements are comprehensive and cover many different pollution sources and a variety of clean-up methods to reduce common air pollutants. Because of this violation Shell Chemical LP will install a $10 million pollution monitoring and control system at its Norco, Louisiana, chemical plant as part of a settlement over allegations it violated the Clean Air Act. The Settlement involves the reduction of air pollution from four industrial flares at the Norco facility. Shell's Norco facility is approximately 20 miles northeast of New Orleans. The facility manufactures ethylene, propylene, and butadiene to sell to other manufacturers for use in the production of antifreeze, tires, plastic food containers, trash bags, laundry detergent, cosmetics, adhesives, coatings, and hundreds of other consumer and industrial materials and products. Corporations seem to be able to do anything they wish as long as they generate revenue even if it means polluting the air, but with this Act in play, it keeps the corporations in check. The law will decrease global warming and the amount of people getting ill because of the harmful chemicals we could be breathing.
The law is fair, and it does not have special interest. Its main interest is to keep our environment clean for all the living things that call our planet home. It slows down the negative effects it has on the planet. Although, global warming is inevitable and already taking place, we must do anything in our power to decrease it and perhaps reverse it. There will be a point where it is too late, but something must be done now. The Clean Air Act has a goal in mind, and it will attain it no matter what. All corporations must follow the law or pay the price.
I am pretty sure that the law will continue to be amended because as technology and our way of living advances, the EPA will continue to have new precedents. New situations and violations will arise, and it will cause the Act to be
