The death penalty is capital punishment of execution, administered to someone who committed a capital crime (usually murder). Historically, the death penalty was carried in one of three ways: Hanging, firing squad, and electrocution. The latest change of the method was in January of 1993 in which lethal injection and lethal gas was introduced.
