Tyranny is a very terrible question for a country. Britain was a tyranny country and it controlled American thirteen colonies for a long time. So after America was independence, they decided to avoid it. That was why James Madison created Madisonian model to separated government’s power. Although Separation of powers can avoid tyranny, it still has some problems. This essay will talk about what is the Separation of powers’ advantages and disadvantages.
Madisonian model was created by Madison and is a system of Checks and Balances (Broadwater 2015). None of branches can dominate the others (Chorlian 2015). The Congress is the legislative power of government. It can decide the number of judges, impeach presidents, and rewrite legislation. House of Representatives and States Senate are two parts of Congress. House of Representatives has 435 delegates who come from each state. The number of delegates from each state is depends on how many people are there in that state. To avoid some small states citizens’ dissatisfied, in States Senate each state can choose two delegates to represent their state. The Supreme Court is the judicial power of government. It can declare congressional laws or presidential actions unconstitutional. The president is the executive power of government. President can veto congressional legislation and refuse to enforce congressional legislation, but president only has one chance to veto one legislation. The president also makes treaties, executive agreements, and executive orders (Bardes et. al 2015). Members in House of Representatives will have a vote and argument about an important decision, then give the result of argument to States Senate. States Senate’s member also will have a vote and argument for it. If the result of two parts of Congress is different, they will have a debate. Debate result will be given to the president. Then president will check it. Finally, Supreme Court declare it. Each step of created a new law need spent a lot of time.
