This event was real and accord in St. Cloud MN, with two sisters named Mary and Susie. They disappeared after going shopping and were later discovered in a quarry that was outside of St. Cloud. This is where the title of the book came from and the storyline for the book. “On September 28, 1974, the bodies of Mary and Susan Reker were discovered in a quarry area west of Waite Park. Both died as a result of multiple stab wounds.”In the book the two best friends both go missing during the summer. One of the main characters of the book, Elizabeth goes missing first and then so does her best friend when they were supposed to be at the quarries hanging out with their friends. They both share common traits which are cold and manipulative. The author shows similarities with the events that happened in both the novel and case. The killers both attempted to manipulate others and captivity for terrible violence events. “Heather knows that police are looking for a man named Theodore Godo who probably killed a woman in nearby Saint Paul. Police believe he might have also kidnapped a young woman named Beth.” Comparing the book and case we can see the similarities to the tactics that the killers both did. It shows similarities by them both using kidnapping and both the real and fictional events happened in the same area.
