The rap culture has an impact on the black community. It has served as a powerful expression for black men and women. Rap has a wide impact on black culture. Artists have the power to influence other lives. These influences have today's culture beyond just music and dancing. It has also shaped trends and fashion. Rap has also helped to portray black masculinity in many diffrent ways, from expressing strength, survival, and empowerment including the negatives of hypermasculinity emphasizing dominance and objectifying women. and supporting harmful stereotypes that contribute to the marginalization of women. While rap has a big positive impact on black likes, it also has many negatives. From promoting violence that affects how we are seen as a community to misogyny. Women's bodies are used to perpetuate ideas of sexual degradation. In the Rap industry, the term misogyny is described as music lyrics and videos that glorify the objectification of women. While some artist uses their platform to talk about their experiences and empower blacks like Tupac, there are some who degrade and produce music videos and lyrics that portray women as sex objects and their property with no value other than that. The lyrics that some of these artists use are very derogatory and reinforce negative attitudes toward women and this has become the norm. Tupac did the complete opposite with his platform. He created a song about uprising women and all of the struggles that they've experienced. In Keep your head up he questions why men treat women with such misogyny. He explains how men come from women so why must be treated so poorly and with hatred and looked down on.
