Responsibility is a common establishment to daily control and power. It can lead to the influence of an individual's outcome. William Shakespeare has shown how it can indicate the accountability of men and women's behavior in the play of Macbeth. Macbeth is about a tragedy of political ambition and portrays what is appropriate or acceptable in a gender of culture norms. In the article “Gender Roles: Then vs. Now” Raegan Pechar explains how women’s roles have been changing throughout the decades. Women were stereotyped as the weaker link, less intelligent and emotional gender of society. She shows the point of view of how Lady Macbeth actions can gain power through social status. “Though intelligent and strong at the beginning of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is reduced to an insignificant person haunted by nightmares and guilt as a result of a patriarchal portrayal of her gender.” Lady Macbeth has proven that even though she is shown to be inherently weak she can be strong all on her own. William Shakespeare displays Lady Macbeth with intelligence which makes her look unnatural since women are supposed to be worthless, only knowing to be a wife and a mother. “Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full of the milk of human kindness.” Lady Macbeth asks the spirits to release her from sympathy and weakness because she wants them to unsex her since she has put up with being the one to destroy their future with evil plans. On the other hand, Macbeth was a powerful and brave soldier that did anything to serve his king and country but once he heard the witch's prophecy, him and his wife became greedy. They both saw the opportunity to take the crown and make the prediction come true. The world is full of temptations that make both women and man want to have power for their own selfish
