The Responsibility Of The Reeve In Miller's Tale

119 Words1 Pages
In my opinion, I think that the Reeve may be over reacting a little. No one else was offended by the Miller’s tale. Maybe that should tell the Reeve something. Perhaps the Miller did not mean to offend him. The Reeve has managed his lord’s account since his lord was twenty years old. He cheats him to full fill his own coffers. He also knows all of the secrets of the bailiffs and laborers and blackmails them. He is able to get away with this because everyone is scared of the Reeve and would not dare expose him. They all just let him be. The Reeve is also richer than his lord, and often lends him his own money.
