The Role Of Lady Macbeth In The Murder Of Duncan

283 Words2 Pages
In the eyes of a 1600s court of common law, Lady Macbeth would be perceived as guilty as Macbeth due to her role as a principal of murder in regicide, as an accessory of murder in other acts of homicide, her dominant position in the relationship of the crime duo, and her own admittance of her crime.
Lady Macbeth directly contributes the the murder of Duncan by blaming the chamberlains and is therefore a principal of murder in the second degree. According to the National Paralegal College, a principal in the second degree can be defined as “a party who helps the principal in the first degree in the commission of a crime and who is present at the time and place that the crime is committed” (“Accomplices: Common Law Classifications”).
