Racism is defined as the poor treatment of people based on color. For as long as humans lived, millions of people have been treated poorly because of their skin color. Racism has carried throughout the many years of American history. Since the abolishment of slavery, a huge spike of racial discrimination flourished the United States and it still does. Stereotypes, racial profiling, and discrimination are signs of racism that still are shown to many people today. Many people have tried stopping such acts with protest. This is shown in this years election with Donald Trump. Donald Trump has made horrible accusations against Hispanics and Arabic. He has not only stereotyped but has discriminated these races. As people see someone with such great power, many will follow that particular person and his/hers beliefs. In American history, there has been racism politics. Democrats was once called the “White Man Party” because it capitalized on immigrants’ desire to be labeled “white” by running candidates who attacked African Americans as lazy, untrustworthy, and sexually menacing (Nagel 2016). There are many cases that are not being brought up to attention. Many people choose not to believe it exists and push it aside. As the situation for no justice for a particular group rises, the worst the situation gets, just like everything else. Racism can be unintentional because humans categorizes people that are different is skin color, behavior, or practices. Anything that is different to us is a threat to us instinctively. To some people, racism has never affect them therefor they don’t really mind for it. It is also not taught to our youth in schools.
