Remorse leads to redemption “I do not seek redemption for the consequences of my sin. I seek to be redeemed from the sin itself. Until I have attained that end, I shall be content to be restless” –Mahatma Gandhi. The true meaning of redemption is of feeling regretful and remorseful, not for the consequences of a sin but just for the act of sinning. Through this thesis paper I intend to prove that it is the feeling of remorse in people which drives them to redeem for their sins. Remorse gives rise to redemption and fuels constructive action. Remorse once truly felt, convinces individuals to make up for the sins they have committed. It gives them the power to atone for their sins and thus achieve redemption. Soraya succeeds to redeem herself because she is undoubtedly more forgiving of herself than Amir. She reflects that her mistake was a result of being young and immature and despite the shame it brought on her family she was willing to deal its consequences on her life. In conclusion, the feeling of remorse and Redemption of sins, all in all is very important in one’s life. Redemption is the cure to pain, guilt, shame and embarrassment. Once a sin is truly redeemed, the sinner is set free from guilt and achieves self forgiveness. There are several ways of achieving redemption, but the most affective remains to be remorse.
