The period between the fall of the Roman Empire and the late Middle Ages is what was known as the “Dark Ages”. Some may argue that the Dark Ages were as dark as can be, but I believe it was much brighter than we give them credit for. Realistically, the Middle Ages were a time of learning and adapting. The Roman Empire did face some tough times and had a weak army, but it was normal considering that times were changing. Although they were adapting to these new aspects, they did manage a victory in the Battle of Hastings. This was not an easy task, but they accomplished it! This period was not “dark”, but instead, filled with accomplishments! All in all, the term “Dark Ages” does not accurately portray the atmosphere of Western Civilization
