The Secret Life of Bees takes place in the deep South, during the 1960’s. The setting of this story is very important, without it the story would be completely altered. If the setting did change the whole storyline would be different. The reason behind why the setting is so important is because all of the differences, which include; culture, time period, and location. One of the most important aspects of having the setting in the deep South is the culture. Even today the South has a strong ideal on family life. Since the story took place in the South, T.
