In the last years the world of music had experienced drastic changes. Not only by the way we listen to music and the way music is produced and recorded, whether if it is 78RPM (the LP’s revolutions per minute) form that was known to be use until the 1950s to the newer form of the rpm which was and still is today 33 1/3 RPM, 45RPM to 8-track, and from that to cassette, CD and now digital downloads, the music industry as a whole advanced greatly beyond the concept of just recording a song and selling it. Before the tremendous changes of streaming in the 1990’s. Our selection of music was in somewhat chosen for us by the strong bodies who controlled the industry. Yes, we could choose our own favorite songs, but our selection was limited to what the labels marketed, produces and distributed. Consequently, the labels controlled the spread of music. Further, our excess to music was limited compare to now. We lived in a world where we had to listen to the radio in order to get the new upcoming song by a new favorable artist or go to a record store to browse between thousands of records and decide what we like. With the new use of digital way of listening to music, the increased CDs sales by consumers, and the new technological improvements that tear down the old inflexible way of creating a song. The new technology allowed an easier way to record a song. And eased the several ways production was done. Record labels enjoyed high revenues, cheaper and easier way to record, produce and sale a song. The labels could decide to charge more for the CD base on the production process.
