There were many similarities between the book and the movie with the ghosts. Scrooge was a very cranky greedy old man that owned a business and his business partner had recently died, his name was Marley, he was also kind of mean and rude like Scrooge.

Nephew asked him to come over for Christmas but then Scrooge tried to tell his Nephew Fred that Christmas has no value, but Fred refused and tried to get his uncle to realize the value of Christmas so, then Scrooge told him you celebrate the holiday in you’re way let me celebrate in my way. But then they had a little argument before Scrooge sent his nephew out of his house.

Today I am going to be discussing about the similarities and the differences between the book and the movie in the book and the movie Scrooge was the main character they both had the part where Scrooge had an argument with his nephew. In the movie and the book they had the same types of lessons learned. The difference is that in the movie Scrooge had a dog while in the book, it never mentions that Scrooge had a dog.
Some of the similarities I noticed was that the ghost of christmas past, present, and future came to visit Scrooge in the story and the book. In the past of Scrooge’s life, both in the book and in the movie it shows him as a little kid. It also shows him when his girlfriend leaves him and when his sister comes to visit him, but shortly after she dies, but not without having a kid first. Also I found that when they went to Christmas present they went to the Cratchit’s house in both the short story and the video. Another thing was that once they got there soon Tim and Bob arrived also.

Writers have taken artistic liberties and have added or taken away to the beloved Christmas story to make it their own. There are several differences between A Christmas Carol, and Charles Dickens and his time. There was a large difference in the importance of Christmas between A Christmas Carol and actual 19th century England. “Christmas, then a minor holiday in England” (Warren 106). bIn actual 19th century England Christmas was not a major holiday, some people celebrated it but it wasn’t a large ordeal.
In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens utilizes a plethora of literary devices such as similes, metaphors, imagery, and denouement to explore the capacity for change. This reveals that changing is never impossible until you’re six-feet under. A simile is a comparison that usually uses the word “like” or “as”. Dickens’ use of similes demonstrates how Scrooge changes throughout the story and because of this, we see how changing all aspects of yourself isn’t impossible. “Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self- contained, and solitary as an oyster.”
