Benjamin Franklin is one most influential people in American history. He is one of the Founding Fathers who contributed to the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States. He was a man of many different talents. He had many crucial scientific discoveries that would shape the future of America. He was a printer who created the first American lending library. He also published Poor Richard’s Almanac, which was one of the greatest pieces of literature for his time. There is another man in our generation who simulates the ideals of Benjamin Franklin known as Bill Gates. These two creators are similar through their innovations and entrepreneurship. In the 18th century lightning was a problem with wooden structures. Benjamin Franklin retired from his publishing shop to focus his time on experiments. After doing countless experiments revolving electricity, Benjamin Franklin discovered that if a metal rod was attached to a building and connected to the ground it would be able to elicit the lightning before it could cause any damage. In the early 1980’s Bill Gates with the help of Paul Allen created a new operating system known as MS-DOS. Bill Gates began to make a fortune of the licensing of MS-DOS. Through their entrepreneurship and innovations of their times both Benjamin Franklin and Bill Gates resemble one another. Benjamin Franklin found success in his print shop which led to him becoming the founder of the University of Pennsylvania and the official printer of Pennsylvania.
