At a young age, Franklin was a determined. He would become his brother’s apprentice in his printing press company. This would inspire him to establish his own printing press which would be well known throughout all the colonies. He was then given the rank of postmaster, which made him the head of all the post offices in the colonies. He was very interested in pursuing science and enjoyed inventing; this curiosity of science would lead him to be the first to discover electricity.
He was introduced to the writing and publishing industry by his parents and “he became an apprentice for his brother James, who ran a Boston newspaper, The New England Courant” (“Franklin, Benjamin”). Franklin acquired multiple ideas for writing because his brother’s shop was busy and had much activity going on. When Benjamin Franklin started writing at age twelve, he wrote multiple pieces at a time and when he got older, they became more advanced. Franklin wished his works would be printed in a newspaper but he felt that his brother would not publish them if he knew who wrote them. As Franklin’s love for writing grew, he decided he needed a change and was going to leave his brother’s company.
