Heroes in Medieval times were the men who fought wars to save their kingdom from the enemy. They were worshipped by their king, and received gifts such as treasure and land. Knights were said to be highest in rank, following after noblemen. Only a certain amount of men were ranked as knights because back then people believed in destiny. So many didn’t consider working up into a higher class.
Most heroes are determined and courageous. Frederick Douglass once said, “I remained firm...reaching new york without any interruption(SB 71).” Which meant that he was determined to spread the word to the world about slavery and no one could stop him from doing so. Also, another hero Odysseus showed determination and courage when he blinded the cyclops to get out of the cave. “We took the red hot stake and twisted it round and round like that in his eye(SB 33).”
Heros’ come in many shapes and forms. Tall, short, small, big, anyone can be a hero, they just have to put in the effort. Though anyone can be a good hero, a great hero is somebody who inspires others, makes a difference, and is selfless. First and foremost, a great hero must be someone who inspires others. Ida B. Wells is an example of a true hero.
Kerri demonstrated determination by fighting off excruciating pain to achieve a goal, while, Tracy showed determination by working hard everyday in the most depressing and physically challenging jobs. Kerri showed selflessness by sacrificing her health for the good of her team, while Tracy showed selflessness by putting her patient's health before her own and risking everything to save others. Kerri Strug, world known, has accomplished a lot during her career and has become a role model for many young individuals. However, she is still very similar to my everyday hero Tracy. Tracy did not achieve worldwide fame or role model status, but she still showed determination and selflessness, fitting my definition of a hero.

Throughout history there have been many Queens. All over the world, many monarchies had an influence on their people. Such was the same during the 19th century in Hawaii. Before the United States took over, was Queen Liliuokalani. Queen Liliuokalani may be called a hero if we define the term as a person who, endowed with extraordinary qualities of heart and mind, determined to achieve a near impossible goal to restore monarchy powers and succeeds in the face of serious opposition against the United States.
Characters such as Thor, Harry Potter, and Katniss Everdeen are considered as prime examples of heroism. As for the story of Beowulf,
What makes someone a hero? Heroes are people that do something to make the world better. Heroes help people when they are in need. Rosa Parks was a person who helped those in need and did something to make the world a better place. Rosa Parks is a hero because she stood up for herself, she stood up for others, and made the world a more peaceful place.
Desire satifacationist has many problems with happiness in the sense that desires can be based on false beliefs, disappointment, impoverished desires. The first one deals with false beliefs and can a person be really happy with false beliefs. According to Shafer-Landau “Fulfilling those desires based on false belief need not improve our welfare,” (p 47). If the false desires do not fulfill or improve our welfare, then why would you continue to peruse these false beliefs? Another problem is disappointing, with the desired certification.
Every past and modern culture over the course of history, has its hero’s. A hero is a person or figure that others look up to and use as forms of protection. Many cherish the hero’s, they make up who we are today. The Anglo-Saxon hero, Beowulf, and the postmodern hero/hero’s, the soldiers, both show the traits of bravery, selflessness, and loyalty. To have the trait of bravery you have to have lots of confidence in yourself and have courage.

Picture a world where the only video game is ping pong, where games don't captivate the player's imagination and leaves individuals with a dry activity that has only two results; goal for player one or goal for player two. Fortunately, our world is home to a cornucopia of games. There are a multitude of ever expanding games that continuously spark new frontiers in gamers’ ingenuity and hearts. With various genres, ranging from action, to adventure and puzzles, the most enthralling type of games are ones that narrate stories. A hero does not fight for fame and glory but for the greater good. A hero is someone who goes through adversity to help others in desperate times. A hero fights evil, and defends people.
