The Smurfs is a Belgian comic franchise created by Pierre Culliford, also known as Peyo. It was an innocent cartoon that focused on the lives of the Smurfs, small blue mythical creatures that live in mushroom-shape houses in the forest. There are around 100 Smurfs, and each Smurf is named after a characteristic they possess, such as Jokey Smurf, Hefty Smurf, Papa Smurf, Clumsy Smurf, and Brainy Smurf. The Smurfs shows subliminal messages that can fly over a child’s head, but adults would be shocked by how they never connected the dots. The Smurfs emote communism, Nazis, and the KKK because of their culture, physical appearance, and characters. The Smurfs can also represent communism. Think about the Smurfs’ physical appearance. All of the Smurfs have blue skin and wear white Phrygian-like caps and white footed pants. The oldest member in the colony, Papa Smurf, wears red and has a beard, indicating that he is the leader. The KKK leader, otherwise known as the grand dragon, wears red as well. There was one scene in an episode from season one called “Vanity Fare,” in which before other Smurfs go out to search for Vanity Smurf, Papa Smurf raises his arm with his hand out and says: “All for Smurf, and Smurf for all!” The other Smurfs do the same.” (The Consmurfacy) This looks similar to Hitler’s Heil salute to the Nazis in Germany. There is even an idea about the Smurfs and Satan. For example, Gargamel uses black magic and Papa Smurf uses white magic. At one point, Gargamel drew a pentagram on the floor to conjure an evil spell. He created Smurfette using black magic. She was turned into a real Smurf by Papa Smurf using white magic. There is also a theory stating that the Smurfs are white supremacists, because they all have blue skin and wear all white, except for Papa Smurf. The only problem with that theory is that they all have blue skin, not …show more content…

He considered the Jews to be the cause of Germany’s problems with economy and poverty because of their wealth and money. The villains of the show, the evil wizard Gargamel and his cat Azrael, want to capture the Smurfs and turn them into gold. Originally, Gargamel’s plan was to capture the Smurfs and eat them in a stew, probably because they felt threatened by the small but superior blue people. After a while however, Gargamel decided that turning them into gold was a better idea. The Smurfs are persistent, as they do not give up when trying to escape from Gargamel’s clutches. “In the struggle for daily bread all those who are weak and sickly or less determined succumb, while the struggle of males for the female grants the right or opportunity to propagate only to the healthiest.” (Hitler, 261) It is implied that Gargamel is a typical Jewish stereotype, having a prominent nose and an obsession for money. He also wears black tattered clothing. Gargamel is also a representation of how Nazis see Jewish people. He is hated by the Smurfs as well. The Smurfs represent the Nazis and Gargamel represents a Jew, as well as a capitalist. His cat Azrael also shares the name with the angel of death in Islamic and Hebrew culture. In one episode, Gargamel gives a Smurf a gold coin in the hopes he will keep it and become greedy. The plan works, upsetting in the
