In The short story ¨The Sniper¨ , by Liam O'Flaherty, The Sniper's Range of emotion from heartlessness to agony, contributes to the development of the plot by making the story real for the reader. the beginning of the story the author describes The Sniper as heartless with the description ¨he had the cold gleam eyes of a frantic¨. This statement describes the young sniper as a boy who has seen violent things. In war there is extreme violence and for a young adult that can be hard to see. Later in the story, The Sniper comes across another sniper on the rooftop across the street. Our sniper was in extreme pain and agony after getting shot in the arm by the other sniper. The sniper expresses himself with the remarks of ¨christ,
