The lust of battle died in him. He became bitten by remorse" (O'Flaherty, 3). The Sniper starts to realize what he's done and feels extremely guilty. He realizes what he's done but doesn't realize who he's killed," the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother’s face" (O'Flaherty, 3). Suddenly, the Sniper killed his own brother.

One difference between these two books involving friendship is that in “The Sniper”, the main character has revealed little information about friends to anyone. The book reads, “The sniper had left all his family and friends at home when he left for war”(The Sniper 1). This quote reveals how the main character’s friendships were broken because of war. Whereas in Cranes, Song-Sam had an old friend named Tok-chae.
One lost a brother and, the other one a friend. There different because they both didn't feel the same for what they lost. Another difference can be that, the way they lost (their brother or friend)was really different, because in The Sniper he lost his brother because he shoot him(making him like a target.) In cranes he lost it because didnt he
American Sniper: The Autobiography of the most lethal sniper in U.S. Military History. Christopher Scott, Chris, Kyle was a legend for all who know his story. Could you imagine leaving your country for a dangerous war zone that could potentially result in you coming home in a casket? Most likely thats a no, considering now only one percent of the population serves in the Unites States Armed Forces. Chris Kyle has been a big part of what convinces me to serve in the military, and serve with pride.
When the soldier kills the woman he wasn't excited he was very scared about what he had just done and it will be with him for the rest of his life. This shows that the soldier is not out to just kill people he does what he thinks is the best solution in his current situation. If the soldier did not believe that was the right call he wouldn't have done why because he is a good responsible soldier who meets all of the
At first he feels he can’t do it, but then he finds the courage to fight. He feels he has to protect his fellow soldier. Crane’s account of the assault also shows the bond the young soldier feels with his regiment and the pride he feels being a part of
The Sniper In war, you many never know who could be on the other side, previous comrades or even family. When in war, sides must be chosen on which side to fight on, although it may even go against who you are close too. In many lifetimes, especially this one war is a common enemy, it may not be on home land, but soldiers fight over seas. In The Sniper, the war had changed this man on the roof; he had become unaffected by death with deep thoughtful eyes being his proof.
Victory always comes with a cost, and that cost was paid in full by Charley Goddard’s traits. In this book “Soldier’s Heart” by Gary Paulsen, the main character is many things: heroic, loyal, daring, and noble. All of these adjectives describe Charley, but to truly describe him is to say he was like an eagle going hunting for prey - brave. Immediately when the story begins, we see that Charley is eager to join the Civil War to fight for his country. Before Charley goes off to join the military, his mother says “You ain’t but a boy”, to which Charley replies, “And I’ve got to be a man sometime”.
During the war families were split up because of the conflict of ideals. The article ends with the Sniper unmasking the other sniper and realizing that he is his brother. O’Flaherty wants to address the fact that in civil war rules are broken, there is no middle ground and that moral codes and empathy do not mean anything anymore. The hearts of people are filled with hate and their only goal is to defeat the new enemy, even though they were once brothers that shared the same playground once. During this war the opposition is shown as a faceless enemy that needs to be destroyed utterly.
The third text, The Sniper, written by Liam O’Flaherty, shows a sniper killing targeted people. Near the end of the book, he realized that he killed his own brother as well. The Book Thief, “Lamb to the Slaughter”, and “The Sniper” are such stories that have been able to teach me that humans make plenty of mistakes but those mistakes, however, cannot be erased.
A similarity in “The Sniper” is when the sniper realized he had took a risky shot
This shows how the sniper’s actions without thought affect him for the worse. O’Flaherty establishes the theme of “The Sniper” by using description and irony. After the sniper turns over the dead body, he realizes what he has done. He was not thinking when he shot the enemy.
This violence was brought about by assumption, when really they were brothers all along. The sniper realizes, and regrets his actions at the end. War and conflict is about protecting loved ones, and about defending your rights and liberties, but we must be careful not to let these conflicts blind our minds with assumption, or violence will destroy
The theme was created when he finds out the man he shot was his brother. This could easily happen in real life. Fear could lead to destructive decisions, and in this case, fear led the sniper into shooting his own
