Black Forest near our town to play war games and often camp out in the forest, that was until the beast was spotted in the section of forest near our town. Many believe it came from the northwestern section of Germany near Poland. The locals call the beast, Seltsames Tier, German for “strange beast”. Nearly everyone in the town headed out of their homes with their lanterns and headed off to the town hall. When people arrived it was packed to the brim. My friends and I decided to get seats near the back of the hall.
“I wonder what the mayor is going to say about the attacks,” asked Ulrich.
“We’ll find out soon enough,” I responded. A fire was promptly lit in the Town Hall fireplace and there was a large sigh of relief from the crowd since there was finally heat. Mayor Gauck then stepped out of one of the back rooms of the hall and headed to the main podium. He hushed the crowd and everyone went quiet. “It is great to see you all on this cold winter evening”, he stated, “now you all know why you are here, the attacks of Seltsames Tier.” “What should we do to stop the Beast?” Asked one townsperson. “I will be getting to that right now”, stated Mayor Gauck. “I believe that we should all march into the forest with torches and weapons and attempt to flush the Beast out…” Before he could finish speaking there was a scream unlike no other from outside the Town Hall. “What was that?” asked the
