Symbolism: Hidden In Plain Sight: What makes a good symbol in a story? Is a good symbol something easily found, or is it something that's hidden in several layers of text? To answer these questions, we must know the purpose of symbolism in literature. Symbolism is used in stories to help the reader comprehend the story and its characters. The symbols help the reader understand the characters and the theme on a deeper level. The symbols used in "The Stolen Party", "Dead Men's Path", and "Cruella" aid and supplement the creation of a clear and insightful view and interpretation of the story. To start, Cruella's hair in the movie "Cruella"(2021) symbolizes her duality between Cruella and Estella and the personalities of both. This shows us how her hair represents her duality as like her hair, there is a divide between the kind hearted Estella and the cruel Cruella. Furthermore, her hair color also shows the difference between the personalities of Estella and Cruella, the red hair shows her attempt of blending into the crowd and her attempt of hiding Cruella to make her mother proud while her two-toned black and white hair standing out of the crowd showing the rowdiness and overall personality of Cruella.
