Thought our lives we all tend to need time away from the people we love most. Some people find that freedom or fulfillment through sexuality while others find it through absences. Adultery is usually wrong but in rare instance it can sometimes be justified. In the storm The Storm it’s understood that two characters that have an affair during a storm but after the affair they return to their normal ways of life. Adultery is every hard to defend because in most cultures or religions it’s socially or morally unacceptable, but The Storm challenges that position. For example in the story one can see that Calixta love her husband when the write says “She stood there with Bobinôt 's coat in her hands, and the big rain drops began to fall..” we get this image of how she feels that her husband is her protector and thus cares for him as well. In relationships normally couples are emotionally, mentally, physically, and sexually compatible, but sometimes couples need have some other kind of experience in order in give more value to what they have.
Calixta and Alcee sexual relationship can be described as sexual exchange with no romantic involvement. Sometimes timing is the key because we can tell them meeting was never a plan but just something that happened. “But she felt very warm and often stopped to mop her face on which the perspiration gathered in beads. She unfastened her white sacque at the throat.” From this you can tell that even before Alcee come in the picture she was starting to feel the urge to have sex.
