On December 23, 1981, Thomas Sophonow, a Canadian man, was wrongfully accused of murder. 16 year old Barbara Stoppel was ruthlessly killed at the washroom of her workplace. Unfortunately, eyewitnesses mistakenly chose Mr. Sophonow as being the murderer. Eye witnesses stated that a man, whose appearance was very similar to that of Thomas Sophonow, locked the door and made his way to the back of the shop where he was presumed to have strangled Barbara Stoppel to death. Furthermore, while Thomas Sophonow was in custody, he showed an undercover officer a door locking technique.
Yesterday, Sloan Jackson, age 18 was put on trial for stealing a shirt from Famous Fashions in Merchandise Mall. He supposedly ran out of the store with a lump (which was the same color as the stolen shirt) in his jacket to go to Record Mart because there was a big sale going on. He then was found sitting next to the yogurt stand and the shirt was found in a trash barrel near the yogurt stand. He then ran away from the security guard but he was in the end caught and brought back to the store to return the shirt. At the trial yesterday the jury came to a verdict of being guilty after talking in the jury room for about 10 minutes.

Arrested after 36 patients died, Narendra Nagareddy had been held at his office following a raid from DEA agent. Around 12 of the 36 patients died from an overdose. Almost 40 federal and local agents raided his Jonesboro office as they seized even more assets at his home. As a psychiatrist of Jonesboro, Nagareddy has been over prescribing benzodiazepine and opiates for the last several years, which has led to multiple overdoses and deaths. People have come to Nagareddy for help, but instead of receiving help, they are met with deadly consequences.
At a news conference, Michael Bouchard of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms told reports the rifle “has been forensically determined to be the murder weapon”. Investigators were able to match Muhammad’s rifles to 11 of the 14 shootings by a series of ballistic tests. First the bullets were recovered from the victims. When the rifle was found they were able to match them up by the markings or rifling impressions pattern on the fired ammunition by the barrel of the rifle. The rifling pattern in the barrel that fired a particular bullet can be determined by counting the number of groove or land impressions around the circumference of the bullet.

The autopsy shows us that Lewis shot himself twice, once in the back of the head and once in the stomach. The autopsy says that the bullet went straight through Lewis’ head and broke most of the skull when it came through the skull. After this it would be impossible to survive a shot like that in any logical circumstance. Also, in the ballistics test in the video, it shows that when the gun was shot from a close distance it didn’t go straight through the skull and got logged inside, showing us that the bullet was shot from a far distance. The ballistic test shows that it takes a long time to reload a horse pistol, seeing that it takes a long time to reload shows us that he wouldn’t have had the time to survive the first shot, let alone reload it and shoot himself another time.
After being shot, doctors rushed to the train station and began trying to locate the bullets to remove them. Since doctors did not believe germs existed, they did not disinfect the area around the president or their hands, which they used to feel around inside of his body. This caused a spread of germs which later developed into an infection which he finally succumbed to after about a month in the hospital. Critic of Guiteau’s guilt and author of a book about Garfield’s assassination, Candice Millard, blames the doctors by claiming, “If they had just left him alone he almost certainly would have survived” (CBS 1). This is backed up by the fact that the bullets were found to have not hit any vital organs.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset is a woman who was served a lawsuit, among four different record labels, for downloading twenty four songs through the website Kazaa which provides users with the tools to upload and download songs.

On September 25th 1978 a Boeing 727 just minutes before landing crashes in San Diageo, making it the first site of the biggest aviation disaster in the US history. Pacific Southwest Airline Flight 182 was having an early morning flight on the coast of California. It was travelling from Sacramento to San Diageo. Co-pilot Robert Fox, a 9 year old veteran was in charge of the plane alongside Captain James McFeron who was with PSA for 17 years, he was appreciated highly by his colleagues for his flying skills. It was the second flight of the day for both men.

Cooper is known for hijacking and using false identities. Cooper is also known to be really mischievous and to stay hidden easily. Unfortunately, investigators have insufficient evidence to demonstrate how this all went downhill.

Jefferson wanted America not to be like the European monarchies that fell due to religious strife, so he emphasized a secular government. Jefferson, following closely with the ideas of John Locke, stressed the importance of the protection of individual rights against the government. Thomas Jefferson believed that a government should have limitations.
Sunday, November 5th, of this year, 26 people were killed and 20 more were injured when a man opened fire inside a Texas church. The reason this case is intriguing is because of how the gunman was stopped. Stephen Willeford, living nearby, heard the shots, and rushed outside with his rifle, exchanging fire with the gunman. He then got into a car with another stranger, and the two raced after the gunman in a high-speed chase.
