The Stroop effect
The stroop effect is a used to measure your mental vitality and flexibility. The effect is named after John Ridley Stroop. The stroop effect use your brain's ability to read words more quickly and automatically than we can name colors. it is used as a test for your \ cognitive abilities. The words have a stronger influence over your brain than the color of the words. The different information (what the words say and the color of the words) your brain receives, creates a mix up of information causing the problem. The Stroop effect shows how the brain deals with different information. The interference is caused by one side of the brain dominating the other one wants to read the word and the other side wants to say the color.(Balota, Marsh 2006)
