Trauma in Dawn and Men in the Sun. The theme of trauma is addressed differently b y the authors of Men In The Sun and Dawn , though there have a few similarities , Gahssan Kanafani in Men In The Sun gives the readers a detailed description of not only the social realities , but the political and human ones as well that characterize the basic lives of the Palestinian people during a critical point in their history when the structure of their existence, as well as the traditional order have been significantly altered by the regional as well as international events .The author describes trauma by showing the struggles and hardships that are undergone by Abu Qais , Marwan and Assa who are all in the quest for a better life . Similarly, in Dawn, Elsie describes the wait of two men for a murder that is scheduled to take place in Dawn.
In the mid-1900’s, people were introduced to new ideas; they began to imagine the future, to visualize where society was headed. The future seemed impossible, but what Ray Bradbury brought to society was a vision that was all to real. Ray Bradbury was born August 22, 1920. After recieving his high school education, he began to sell newspapers, and spending the majority of his time in a library or writing. Bradbury first published a collection of his works in 1947, paving the way for science fiction novels from then on.

Gordon Parks was an African American photographer that had a very rich and diverse body of work from black and white photography to motion picture films. Parks was known for taking photos of social injustice, poverty, and racism in the United States. “Half Past Autumn: A Retrospective Exhibition” was organized in 1997 by the Corcoran Museum of Art which showcased his astonishing works of art. The book Half Past Autumn: The Art of Gordon Parks was also released in 1997 includes over 200 photographs that illustrate Parks work.
In Anna Quindlen’s essay, School’s Out for Summer, she discusses what a huge problem child hunger has become and how it affects thousands of families across the nation. Anna’s essay informed the reader of how the problem still exists, and how people are taking steps to prevent and end child hunger. Anna provides the reader with evidence from food banks and summer programs that hunger is still a major problem in the United States. “During the rest of the year fifteen million students get free or cut-rate lunches at school, and many of them get breakfast too.” Ultimately, this shows that many families across the nation cannot afford to feed their children adequate meals three times a day.
Although summer has its negatives it has many positives as well. There could be less accidents because there is no snow and ice to worry about. With the roads being clear and the temperatures being warm it also bring more chances of road trips and vacations! Summer like winter has its positives and negatives.

In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury uses symbolism, similes and plenty of vivid description to show the hope the children have for a brighter future and their need for change. First of all the author uses the rain to symbolize many things, while at the same time dreaming is used to symbolize hope, and the sun is a symbol portraying each child’s bright future. Similes are also extremely important as they show the desperate hope and need for a bright future. Furthermore with these types of author's craft Ray Bradbury uses repetition. However it does not go along with hope as well as the other pieces of author’s craft that have been mentioned previously.
In the poem “Just as the Calendar Began to Say Summer”, Mary Oliver analogizes two distinct tones. The first tone of voice Oliver uses reflects her negative ideas about the regimented school system. At the beginning of the poem there is a strong sense of what the speaker is going through. Oliver states, “I went out of the school house fast and through the gardens and to the woods,” (ln 1-2).
In David Updike’s “Summer”, Homer is overcome with an innocence yet fixated crush on Sandra. The adolescents spend their school-free summer at Sandra and Fred’s family lake house. This vacation, according to Homer, proves to be different. Homer, Fred and Sandra’s transition to adulthood is much like the change from summer to fall they are experiencing. If Homer could get out of his own head, then he could get the girl and summer of his dreams.

In the beginning stanza of her poem, she describes “[running] out of the schoolhouse fast.” This shows her eagerness to leave, and creates an idea of childlike behavior. She runs “through the gardens and to the woods,” showing her freedom to play in nature.
The book “ The Sun and Her Flowers” written by Rupi Kaur. The book is a poetry book which consist of five segments in the book including; Wilting, Falling, Rooting, Rising, Blooming. The book is based around love and the authors experience with it and the ups and downs to it. The author also brings in her experiences with love written in the style of poetry.
Summers have an air of relaxation to them for most people, but for me I can barely find a moment's rest. Because I work in the hospitality industry, summer is the busiest time of the year. My apartment is a 3 minute walk from the beach and yet I only rarely get to enjoy it. Although there are days, there are precious days, when I can just stop and smell the ocean. Where I can just sit there all day, seemingly without a care in the world.
