The Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare, is written from a very misogynistic perspective. In the play, Shakespeare examines the relationship between men and women and offers that a man should have full command over his female counterpart. This is of course extremely sexist, but it was not uncommon at the time for women to be seen as less valuable than men and Shakespeare was just being realistic for the time period in which this play was written. With that being said, as a male author in the 1500s, Shakespeare can never depict the female perspective in a completely accurate way.
